One Year

It was just about a year ago that I married this handsome fella! And boy, am I happy I made the choice to be his forever, and have him as my forever. Some memories from that special day:
  • My grandpa screaming out "I blessed you to have 10 kids"
  • Kasey getting pulled over in the morning on our way to the temple
  • Arianne and Lizzie staying up and making breakfast with me
  • going to deseret book in between our luncheon and reception
  • loosing my locker key in the temple
    • marrying Kasey and just loving the way he looked at me, and he has yet to change that look
There were so many other great memories but those were just some of them.
I just look forward to the many years more to come :)
For our anniversary we went to Olive Garden with a gift card our landlord gave us... thank you Beth, and then we headed to temple square where Kasey was so kind as to buy me a carriage ride. A kid gave us a little dancing show of Gangam style on our way I laughed. We also stayed at anniversary inn, and enjoyed taking a break from work and school jazz.

So here is to Kasey:

So here is to you Kasey, Love you, and I love that we are together.

DIY redesigned table and reupholstered chairs

So we have been busy bee's in our home lately and I am so behind in keeping updates!
But for one we redid our dining table and chairs.
They style was fabulous in the 70's and 90's but we decided it needed a little fixing up!
 This is what we did:

1. We sanded the inside squares and wiped down the table and the chairs, and we took off the fabric on the chairs.

2. I mixed a cup of plaster of paris with about 1/8 a cup of water and turquoise paint that matched fabric we chose beforehand.
3. We started painting right away!

4. We then Stapled the fabric to the seats and the backs of the chairs! It took two people to pull the fabric tight enough and pull and tuck it in so that it looked good.

5. We screwed the seats back on and glued some lining on, which ended up being the most difficult part, because the glue was hard to squeeze out of the bottle, and all without getting on the fabric.

Then it was done, and a little bit more robin egg blue than I thought... but it still looks super cute!

Well It turned out really well, and if I wanted to sell them, which I don't, Kasey said I could sell it at a cute little boutique... and knowing him that means a lot.

But I like it, what do you think?

Truth Tuesday... again

So I decided that I would do yet another truth Tuesday:

1. Kasey does not know how to warm chocolate and burnt about 6 bucks of chocolate yesterday...
2. When redoing our kitchen table and chairs, I accidentally nicked a little spot and instead of painting that spot... waiting for it to dry and then putting the sealant over it I smudged it all together over the spot impatiently not allowing it to dry.
3. I ate chocolate yesterday... and for those who know me... this is a big deal since I don't like it all that much.
4. I may bs a paper on an upcoming test based upon discussion and not what I read... or was supposed to read.
5. I HATE when people post their problems with someone close to them on Facebook like "My mom is so mean to me" or when they try and get others to justify their argument out of context for example "don't you think that if someone (like we don't know who you are talking about) is married to you they should always do the dishes after making dinner"......... really people, PLEASE leave your arguments at HOME. By posting your problems I am embarrassed for you and feel more pity for the person you you are writing about who for the most part is an innocent bystander. Even though the argument seems "right" on your part.... most of the time it is out of context and completely rude and inconsiderate for all others involved, even if it was there fault this does not belong of Facebook. Thank you
6. Number 5 has been bothering me a lot lately.... especially when people agree with the post person and they put their "claim" out of context. This has not happened to me but I have heard and seen the conversations that have proceeded some of the comments made.
7. I bought a new dress :) oops.
8. I forgot to make dinner yesterday in time, so poor Kasey and I didnt have a chance to eat until midnight!
9. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be Kasey's wife!
10. Despite the struggles, and stress and hard times school has brought me... I am happy and I LOVE life!
11. I hope this post isn't too offending but more it lets off some steam... and if you have anything to add I would LOVE to hear it :)

Deep in the Heart of Texas

So a few weeks ago we went to visit my family in Texas!
Things are continuing to change there and it was fun to see and spend time with my family.
One of the forst things that we did upon arrival to Texas was attend the Texas Rangers game!
It was probably the WORST game I have ever watched of the rangers.... usually there is at least one grand slam out of the park, but not that night... and we lost. Lame.
But the photo above is a posy of peeps who dressed up in mascotesque costumes. There was a pirate, a turtle, a mouse and one other something but anyways they were jamming out in the parking lot in the hot hot hot costumes in 100 degree weather... there were crazy!

Kasey and I at the game.... he can never make a serious face for me....

RANGERS!!!! The weather actually ended up pretty nice and we were glad because I think Kasey would have been dead.
My brother ended up getting a chameleon out of the blue while were were there...
My mom kept saying...."buying Greg (that's what he named the chameleon) was the biggest wase of money because he is going to die within the next month"
Well my mom was right and Greg sure enough died while my brother watched him helplessly choke on a cricket. Its kinda cool how they eat.
My mom and I were able to enjoy some shopping, and while we were at Nordstrom Rack we found the awesome shoes.... we decided my mom should buy them to go clubbing.... jk

But the BIGGEST surprise was for Kasey. So story: I was looking up stuff that we could do and running all the possibilities over with Kasey just to prove to him that Texas could be pretty awesome even though we do not plan on living there. As I was going over the list I suggested we go to Medieval Times. Then Kasey went on to tell me that he used to dream and wish that he would one day have the chance to go to medieval times... and how he used to draw dragons and castles and knights in shining armor. This was news to me and my first response was... who are you?

But my mom surprised us with tickets to medieval times and Kasey was so excited... and he felt pretty nerdy to enjoy it so much. He kept saying... this is cheesy.... but deep inside I was happy to have fulfilled a childhood dream for him.

So I took this picture when we went to eat Tex-Mex food at La hacienda Ranch, because everyone I have told about this thinks I am crazy and never believes me.
But do you see the bags of water hanging? Well they are filled with a penny... and guess what? There are NO flies in the whole place! So this is proof it works.
We loved visiting Texas, and we were so thankful to have seen my family. I wish I had more pics, and the picture with my brothers.... but we loved the company, the Mexican the Texas barbeque, the baseball, and all the wonderful things Texas brought. Thanks Mom and Jeff, we love you and appreciate you getting us down there to Texas! It was so good to see family, icluding Nana, Mimi and my granddaddy.

Truth Tuesday

So I just am in a ranting mood and being my last week of summer classes, I am really just tired.
So here goes truth Tuesday:

1. I really do not want to act out a Shakespeare play Dr. Kramer. Yet alone any play for that matter. I really do not wish to make a fool out of myself only to get an A. If it were up to me, I would play the tree... and actually I may suggest it.

2. Me and milk products do not go well together... enough said.

3. When I look at my arms I feel like they are extremely tan until someone else walks into the room.

4. Today is one of those days that I am not willing to make dinner at all, to the point that I am okay with not eating at all.

5. Yes Spencer, I was totally picking my nose when you walked into the office this morning.

6. I keep having a weird dream about quadruplet... wha?

7. I want to pursue photography so that any picture that I take looks good enough to hang on a wall.

8. I am writing this to avoid my homework.

9. I really like strawberries.

I stopped at 9 because I like the number 9. So sorry if this post was boring, and more to update soon... my brother was in town :)

Summer happenings

This summer has been crazy busy and so many things have been happening on top of school and work. We have enjoyed ourselves though and here is to catching up on the recent happenings.

Garyn and Jill got a new puppy and his name is Pudge.Their last day in Utah we celebrated the fourth of July, by eating red white and blue pancakes, watching the parade, and having a fun afternoon at the park eating barbeque and playing baseball. While we were at the barbeque, Pudge kept getting his head stuck in the red solo cup. It was so cute and funny... Pudge also made Kasey consistently remind me how much he wanted a dog. One day Kasey we will have a dog...

We celebrated that night with snowcones and fireworks.

It was so much fun and hokulia is now my favorite snowcone place ever... but its a bummer that it is always so incredibly busy.
The snowcones are so huge, and I am not exaggerating when I say that they are the size of my head. My favorite flavors have to be the lemonade and dreamsicle... and its nice to have ice cream in there every once in a while too.

I took my incredibly awesome friend Katri and her daughter Kenzie to get a snowcone and I think they liked it too.
I enjoyed spending time with the Koehle's and I am so glad I may have a few more chances this summer to see them again!

A few weddings have occurred recently including my friends Brittany, Katie, and Corinne, as well as Kasey's friends Marc and Andrew and his cousin Niels. We were so glad to be able to be a part of the sealing ceremony and celebrations in Manti with Kasey's family and it was a beautiful and perfect day.

I was also able to snag this beautiful photo of the temple

On a side note... my brother will come to visit this week, so more on that soon :)

Fumanchu

Soo, the other day Kasey was like... Kara I need to shave. /he had grown quite a beard...
because curious as I am... I asked him to leave a mustache and I may have just regretted even suggesting that...

Now as for judgement on this... please leave your comment because I may get a kick out of hearing them... my mom said he looked like enigo montoya... hahahha

To expound on the mustache dilemma... here is a convenient mustache chart... love it!

Kasey is special to me and he recently had a birthday... recent as in last month!
So I really tried to surprise him but I did not want to throw a surprise party as I had the year before. He also did not know what to expect but he was expecting something and I feel bad that he was a little disappointed (as he should of been) for events that happened out of our control.
So basically I snuck in some helium balloons hoping to have him come home to them with sweet notes each explaining reasons that I love him.
When I got home however... the "new" tenant living in our basement was smoking... and I swell up when I am around smoke because I am allergic... no bueno.
Needless to say, when I got home our "new" neighbor became "old" and our landlord had kicked her out so the surprise with notes didn't happen :(

I also made my very first pie... and it was SOOO delicious it didn't stay long because our mouth gobbled it up so fast.
The rest of the night is welll interesting and was not too good either... basically a very nice friend came over till 1 AM and we were tired and worn out...... but the pie was so good.

So to end this post I have a picture that is what it is... and its real I took it and laughed in a somewhat disturbed manner
I have lots more to catch up on but till thenn there is tomorrow!

MOAB

So only a few weekends ago, Kase and I went to Moab with Garyn and Jill.
We had planned on staying two nights but sadly the wind was so horrible, and we were so miserable we all just went home early. Regardless, we had a fabulous time and lots of good experiences.

This was like one of the coolest arches we hiked up to look at. We took our hike a little farther and because it was so windy we turned around.
The wind was HORRIBLE and we all had a layer of dust and dirt layered on. and the wind was so fast it felt like a thousand needles being stabbed at once... no fun at all. We were actually afraid the wind would blow us over the cliffs when we walked across them.

Boys will be boys.

This picture you can see a little bit of the red dust in the background.

So Snakes... I hate snakes and this one here was like 6 feet and cool looking but it still did not put me at ease...

Besides the relentless tent blowing, the wind and overturned tent and all the sand, it was a pretty fun trip with some really awesome people!
