OH Canada! part three.

Here are some more pictures from Banff and the drive up to Vanderhoof to visit Kasey's family.

These were some smaller glaciers up in the mountains, Kasey was saying something to me but he was so tired it didn't even make any sense.

Another glacier, there was this Asian guy who was freaking out when I stopped to take this picture, because of a raven. I guess he had never seen a bird that big before. It was actually really funny!

This spot reminded me a little bit of shiprock in Utah, and I thought it was pretty so I snapped a photo.

I could not get over how blue the water was, I think I asked Kasey if they put chemical in the water to make it look that way. He gave me a super weird look and asked me why anyone would ever put chemical in the water and said it was naturally that way. I had asked because the pond in front of my house looks this blue when they put chemicals in it making it look that way! I just had to ask!!!

We had some lady take this picture for us and it doesn't look that great! But she did not look like she wanted to take out picture, and the other people around us could not speak english very well so we didn't want to ask her to take another picture for us.

Haha, this is where there was a HUGE hold up on the road and tourists were so excited to see the big horned sheep.... they were pretty cool looking but all I got was them super close to the animals taking photos.

This was the HUGE glacier we passed by and I thought it was so pretty and super super cool! after we passed this we were pretty much out of the park and so ready to be in Vanderhoof.

We made in to Vanderhoof at pretty good time and I believe we got there at 6. I was expecting the first thing that we were to do would be sleep since I barely had any within the last 48 hours, but the first thing we did was go to a wedding reception for Kasey's cousin Chandler and his new wife. I was so hungry by this point and I realized that all I had eaten the whole trip was the sandwich at my grandma's house in Utah, and an apple with peanut butter and some twizzlers. Kasey was like, well we will eat at the reception and there should be plenty of food.
So when we got to the reception I was overwhelmed with so many people and friendly faces and it was saying hello to one person after the other. At that point I felt like it was a reception for me because everyone was crowding around Kasey and I saying hello and welcoming us and I think there was even a line.... so I kept trying to creep my way toward the food, and I think it was at least an hour before I got there even though it was 2 feet away.
By the time I got there, there were no chips or dip left and I think I was able to grab a few strawberries.... of course. So then I sat down with Kasey's family and met some of his siblings again, and met some of his nieces and nephews. It was just a meet everyone day! So at that point I was a little bit overwhelmed and they decided to do skits at the reception...
Kasey's cousin Eldon Kochel did a nacho libre skit with his shirt off... lets just say that I was scarred for life! It was just a different environment for me and at that point I felt like running for my life! I thought oh my goodness what have I gotten myself into... this place is redneck and not for me! ( it got better later and I loved it, but the first night was a lot for me to take in)
The next day I felt a lot better though because I met all of Kasey's family besides his brother Korlyn who is on a mission, and his sister Kara who lives in Washington, D.C. I had a ton of fun and learned this game called mad dash and I played outside and I just had a blast and at that moment I felt so comfortable with everyone and I felt like I knew them forever and that I just fit right in.... it was awesome!

Plus there is Kasey and he is just so handsome to me! and he kinda rocks!

Oh Canada! part two...

So I could not get enough of the scenery in Banff... the rivers, waterfalls, asian tourists and the mountains! It was just gorgeous! So at this point of the trip, Kasey and I were just so exhausted. We sang  backstreet boys, Coldplay, Maroon 5, and many other songs to try and keep ourselves going. There was a point when I was driving, and I woke Kasey up because I was dancing to the music in the drivers seat and he was worried I was having a seizure or something. There was also a point when Kasey was driving, and I was napping, and I woke up because he was belting out country songs and he was singing them with a lot of twain and even while I was asleep it was driving me crazy! Banff had a lot of pictures so that is mainly what this post is about... and remember that the pictures do not do their justice!

This bruise is pretty cool, it was worse before but I had to remember it. I got it from helping out my friend Katri and her husband Kurt. We were clearing out a home they were renovating in Utah, and we did lots of stuff. We bailed hay out of the windows, cleaned up stuff and we had to wear masks the entire time! My whole face was a tint of gray from all the dust by the end of it. But I believe I got this bruise by slamming my arm on a rusty nail on the window frame I was trying to break in order to bail the hay out. There was so much of it and it got to a pint where I hit a pitchfork on a dresser. We found burrows and droppings and all that stuff, and once I found the dresser, I found a creature too! It scared the poop out of me and I called it quits!
So that is how I really got the bruise, but I told Kasey's whole family that he had given it to me, they knew it was not true, but because they are awesome they played along! :)
More coming on Canada....

Oh Canada! part one.

So after Kasey finished his finals and got awesome A's... him and I were off to Canada! We drove from Provo all the way up to Vanderhoof, British Columbia, CANADA... in a period of what ended up being 26 hours!
Before we left we went to see my grandparents in Sandy, Utah and I promised Kasey that we would only stay for 15-30 minutes. My grandma is awesome though and she made us sandwiches before we left and her, my Aunt and my Grandpa all talked with us for 2 hours before we actually could get going. It was really important though that I go to visit my grandparents because my grandpa is not in the best health condition. Kasey being very very patient was okay that we added an extra two hours to our trip because well... he was with me! So he drove for about 5 hours and then I drove through the night for like 6 hours and it got to a point where I was so tired I had to bounce in the seat to stay somewhat conscience! So I kept praying and praying that a napping stop would come up and sure enough one came up.... I was so happy to take a stop for a nap! Kasey had not slept the entire time that I was driving... he was a little scared because I was flying down the roads in Montana! But we tried taking a two hour nap and I think the entire time I lay balled up in that front seat... I only got thirty minutes. But I did get to zone out at the beautiful stars... I had never seen so many stars out! Kasey thought it was funny how enthralled I was by the stars!
Once we got started again, we made it to the border really early in the morning and there was not much light out but I got a gorgeous picture of the sunrise! Well actually several gorgeous pictures!

Kase was super excited and he kept talking about how GREAT Vanderhoof was... at that point I was like, whatever.

This picture kinda reminds me of what Ireland would look like.

But Kase and I then went through Banff national park, and oh my goodness, it is the most GORGEOUS place I have ever been to and the pictures do not do their justice!
This was the first time I ever stepped on foreign soil!

Beginning of Banff:

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, GORGEOUS!

More pictures of Banff and some of the rest of my trip to come!
